Happy Friday ATX! 🤠It’s National Bartender Day! Go see your favorite bartender and give them a fat tip! 🤑🍸
Seems like the holiday festivities are picking up in Austin with a whole bunch of Holiday parties and markets this weekend!
The message is simple this morning. Make sure to stop and smell the mfing roses. It’s really easy to get caught up in the hustle of Q4 and finishing the year strong, that’s all great and I am on the same page too…. just take sometime this weekend to relish yourself and the year that you have had. All of the good times, the memories, the progress made, the things you created.
This year flew by for me, and I’m just making it a point to really enjoy these last few weeks of 2024 before it’s behind us.

Weekend Forecast: More gloomy weather coming right up! With highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s this with scattered rain this weekend it’s definitely bundle up weather. From Official Unofficial holiday parties, to open bar comedy shows, to free workouts at luxury gyms (looking at you Kollective) and East Side Bar Crawls, there are tons of festive things to do this weekend despite the chilly weather! ❄️🏋🏻🎊
Best thing we ate this week… If you haven’t participated in a late night (or anytime really) trip to Jewboys Sliders, you’re really missing out. Their menu is simple, but the execution is exquisite. My go to order is the weekend getaway with one Gringo and one Vato slider and an order of fries with like 4 of the Shmutz sauces (this insane smokey mayo sauce.) With locations in several parts of town there’s usually one not too far away, and their hours are very late night friendly due to their proximity to some of the best watering holes in town.

Most fun we had this week… My good friend DJ King Louie is taking over the programming for Thursday Nights at South Congress Hotel at least until the return of First Thursdays. Last night they kicked off a new reverse happy hour on Thursdays from 8-10p with drink specials and DJs. If you haven’t been to the Lobby Bar at South Congress Hotel, you’re missing out on one of the swankiest hotel lobby bars in Austin. Anytime it’s King Louie and friends on the decks you KNOW the music is going to be bussin’ and that’s exactly what we got last night. Fantastic drinks, vibey music, and a gorgeous environment. I sipped on several cocktails that I honestly can’t remember the names of but their craft cocktail program is one of the best so anything you order should be awesome.

New Business that we want to try… 5 years ago I worked at the aforementioned South Congress Hotel as a bartender. It was probably the best (and notably the last) service industry job that I had. One thing I will never forget about working there was the access I had to pastries from one of the best dessert programs in all of Austin. At the time, Amanda Rockman was the executive pastry chef. Since then she has received national recognition for her creations and recently she opened Rockman Coffee & Bake Shop in East Austin. The building proudly reads “CAFFEINE GLUTEN SUGAR BUTTER BOOZE” so I can only assume she is not holding back at all. When I tell you guys she makes some of the best pastries in the world I am not kidding! I can’t even imagine how quality the rest of the offerings will be and I can’t wait to go stuff my face there.
