Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #45
Check out the best things to do in Austin this weekend and more! 🍂🎶🌆
Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Go For A Ride Day! Sometimes it’s nice to just crank the music and go for a leisurely ride with no agenda. I’ll probably participate in this one today 😂🏎️
A lot of people are already planning for what they want to achieve in 2025, but it’s still 2024. There are still 40 days left in the year including today. 40 days is enough time to make significant progress if used correctly.
If there are any changes you wish to make, or achievements that you’re looking to accomplish in 2024, don’t wait until 2025 to start. Just start today. It can be fitness goals, business goals, creativity goals… anything you want, I just want to encourage you not to wait until next year to get after it.
And with that… here’s your meme from this week sourced from Austin’s own reddit.
Weekend Forecast: I am starting to feel the holiday vibes come on strong. Highs in the 70s this weekend with a low of 42 and a lot of the Holiday Festivities kicking off! Multiple Holidays bars and events are starting up now that we are approaching Thanksgiving this Thursday! From musical theater dance parties to holiday lights at COTA there are tons of opportunities to get out and have a great time this weekend. 🎄❄️
Best thing we ate this week… There are a ton of hyped restaurants in Austin but sometimes you just need good food from a little known hole in the wall Chinese restaurant.
At the bottom of South Lamar there’s a restaurant called Hunan Lion, and no joke I have been eating at this place since I was like 6 years old. My parents spent some years in New York City and they have always endorsed this place as having some of the best East Coast Chinese food in Austin. Everything is so good and the prices are surprisingly cheap. We had 2 egg drop soups, an order of egg rolls, spicy cucumbers, spicy edamame, a spicy duck dish called Mala Duck, and a chicken and eggplant stir fry… it was a ton of food with plenty of leftovers for the next day and we only spent $52 which is pretty good for Austin these days.
Half of the time I come here I just pick up food to-go, but the interior is also very charming, dripping with oriental decor and koi fish tanks. They’ve stood the test of time in Austin, and they’ve never let me down in all of the years I have been eating there.

Most fun we had this week… This past week the most fun I had by far was playing Saturdays show with the band. I just couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face the entire time. I know this segment may seem like shameless self promo this week, but my country band Southwest Son has been playing some amazing gigs lately. We have another one tonight at Austin Garden & Studio, and if you like country music like Turnpike Troubadors, Tyler Childers, and Zach Bryan, you should come check out our set! We will be playing from 9-12 and will have about an hour and a half of our own original country music and will also play covers of some of your favorite country songs for you to sing and dance along to. Bring your boots because there will be a lot of two stepping taking place!

New Business that we want to try… The world famous South African chicken restaurant called Nandos recently opened up in Austin up in the Mueller shopping center and if it lives up to the hype it has, it must be incredible. They’re famous for their flame grilled chicken soaked in amazing peri peri sauces. You can get it in many forms, bowls, salads, sandwiches, or just straight chicken. It looks awesome and the interior of the restaurant is stunning. We’ll report back soon and give you the run down once we get the chance to check it out, but for now check out their Instagram!
