The best things to do in Austin this weekend! šš
Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National Drummer Day! One of my favorites as a drummer myself š„š¶
I am doubling down on this project now that we are halfway through Q4. I started this newsletter in January, and wow a lot of things have changed in my life. I was distracted and was not pushing as hard here for the past couple of months, but I am giving you my word that this publication and the ecosystem around it will undergo massive development over the next few months.
I have a vision for this that is far greater than just sending an email each week, and I am so grateful to every single of you that is subscribed and engaged with this project of mine. Thanks for being here!
Before we jump into this weeks newsletter here is your memeā¦
How long will it last this time š¤
Weekend Forecast: As I write this it is 68 degrees at Radio Coffee and I am loving it. This weekend will be the chilliest yet with temps dipping down into the 50s. The high for the weekend is still 82 though, so get out and get some sun! Between comedy shows with unlimited open bars, to the Texas Book Festival, thereās certainly something for everyone.
Best thing we ate this weekā¦ Now that the Texas Michelin Guide is out, itās time to start working our way through it. A few of the restaurants on there are ones we know and love like Leroy and Lewis and Kemuri Tatsuya, but honestly I have been sleeping on a bunch of these and I am excited to work my way through the list.
I decided to go ahead and start with Briscuits, who received one of the Bib Gourmand awards, which is a way of saying that the food is exceptional and provides great value. I got the brisket biscuit sandwich with smoked strawberry jelly and an order of hashbrowns. It absolutely smacked. The combination of the smoky peppery brisket, with the smokey sweet jelly, on a buttery flaky biscuit was undeniable. The hashbrowns were also executed perfectly, golden and crunchy on the outside, soft and mushy on the inside.
The only problem is that now I need to take a nap. š

Most fun we had this weekā¦ We went to the Creek Show earlier this week and it was really cool! Itās flipped this year so instead of walking south to north along the creek, you start at the new Amphitheater and walk south. Itās a longer walk than in years past, but the installations were captivating. My favorites were the school of fish at the end, and the skeleton boat. Itās only here ātil tomorrow night so if itās something you wanted to check out nowās the time!
Pro tip: check out the Swim Club lounge at the end!

New Business that we want to tryā¦ San GinĆ©s, a beloved Spanish churro institution since 1894, has made its way to Austin, and thereās a family connection behind it. After decades of success in Spain, Pedro Trapoteās sons, Alex and Gonzalo Trapote, took the reins to bring the brand stateside. Following the first U.S. location in Miami in 2023, Austin became the natural choice for their next spotāAlex calls the city home, and his momās family runs the neighboring Greek cafĆ©, Opa.
The Austin setup is a mix of old-world charm and modern vibes: the main building serves coffee, drinks, food, and offers cozy seating, while a food truck outside keeps the churros, chocolate, and ice cream flowing.
Their soft opening is today 12-10p if you want to go see it! Link in events section below.
