Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day so go hit up DeSano and get that DiaVola pizza which is probably the best slice of pepperoni pizza in all of Austin in my opinion.
Our band had yet another show last night and I am a perpetual procrastinator, so here I am writing the newsletter again on Friday morning…

Weekend Forecast: As we get closer and closer to ACL Festival there is going to be so much amazing music coming through and you’re really starting to see it in this weeks event list with Sofi Tukker (performed this past Wednesday), Cigarettes After Sex, Chromeo, and Glass Animals all performing this week.
Weather will be nice with highs peaking in the low to mid 90s with a lot of sun to take advantage of the fact that Barton Springs has finally reopened!
Best thing we ate this week… The Biggies Yard Bird smashburger has been on my list for awhile and I finally gave it a go this week. I’ll keep this short and sweet and just tell you its worth ordering whether you are sober or drunk. I think it’s better than some of the overly hyped wagyu smashburgers in town and you can get it with waffle fries. I had a frozen Painkiller from the bar in Armadillo Den to wash it down and it was undoubtably the best thing I’ve eaten this week so far.
Biggies Yard Bird
Most fun we had this week… A friend of mine celebrated his birthday on Monday which is what brought us to Armadillo Den. We went down there to listen to some live music and there was a duo of artists playing some really pretty music that was a mix of folk and country. The sprawling outside space, nice stage, football games on a big screen, and plentiful options of food and drinks (as mentioned above) make this one of my favorite destinations with groups of friends. I was too busy living the moment to take many photos, but here’s a shot of the aforementioned Painkiller.
Pro tip: they admit that their parking sucks and offer to take 10% off of your tab if you show them that you got there using rideshare!
Armadillo Den
New Business that we want to try… It looks like there’s a new bar in the swanky Hotel Van Zandt over off of Rainey Street called Brass Poppy and it looks awesome! They offer a variety of craft cocktails and small bites including everything from Wagyu Steak Tartare to fancy renditions of Cookies and Milk. Looks like it will be a nice date night for us! Stay tuned for an update.
