Weekend Forecast: Fake Fall š made an appearance this past week and I loved the (slightly) cooler mornings that we were teased with. This weekend will see lows in the mid 70s and highs and the 90s again though. There are tons of fun things to do from Motorcycle Racing at COTA to 2010s themed parties and a lot of great live music, so you have very few valid excuses not to go have fun.
Best thing we ate this weekā¦ This morning I needed something heavy to ground myself and I remembered this place in Sunset Valley called Cruzteca that I used to frequent years ago.
For some reason their Chorizo Biscuits and Gravy popped into my head and seemed like a perfect idea. Well long story short, it WAS a perfect idea.
This place is way better than I remembered and theyāve absolutely grown as a business since the last time I went when they first opened years ago. They serve brunch food until 3pm every day, and it reminds me of the kind of food you get when you find an amazing restaurant on vacation down in Tulum. (oddly specific I know, but its the vibeā¦)
Great service, food was very well executed, and the table salsas were unreal. Check āem out!
Cruzteca
Most fun we had this weekā¦ Iāve already written about Banana Phone before in one of the first editions of the newsletter, but honestly it was by far the most fun thing I did this week. It just keeps getting better and better.
Iāll spare you the details because theyāre far too outlandish to put into writing, but this late Sunday night comedy show is one of the best places to get a laugh in every week.
Unlike a normal comedy show, heckling is highly encouraged at this heckle mic, and many of Austinās great local comics attend just to roast each other each week. It is an absolute mad house, but donāt go if you are easily offended.
New Business that we want to tryā¦ This isnāt exactly new but it comes around every year and next weekend is the opening weekend! Pumpkin nights is basically an art gallery made of 7500 hand carved pumpkins and pumpkin themed things. Itās one of the coolest Halloween/fall experiences in Austin and Iām so excited that weāre rolling into one of the most busy and exciting times of the year here. Make sure to check out their calendar too because there are different offerings on different nights.
