Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National College Colors Day! With the first UT game of the season happening this week I better see a lot of burnt orange around town today 🏈
Wow I can’t really believe it is going to be September on Sunday.
As we head into the last 4 months of the year I want you to reflect on your goals from the beginning of the year.
What did you set out to achieve in 2024? How is it going? Have you done what you need to do to accomplish those goals this year?
The good news is that a lot can be done in 4 months so if you need to make up ground because you summered a little too hard, get after it!

Weekend Forecast: Wow this weekend is looking like one for the books. Lone Star Le Mans out at COTA, the first Texas Longhorns football game of the season, my country band plays at Austin Garden & Studio again tonight 9p-12a, and so much more in the events section below! 🎸🎶🏈🏎️
Weather is already cooling down a bit with the highs in the low 90s instead of the high 90s, and as of writing this there is a 35% chance of some rain showers tomorrow.
Best thing we ate this week… Okay, so I made a spreadsheet of all of the new businesses we have featured and it’s time to start ticking off a lot of these spots now that I have a nice list. Today we went to check out the awesome happy hour at Uncle Nicky’s where they give you free snacks and small bites when you order a drink!
I have never been to Uncle Nicky’s before, so we decided to check out the newly opened South Lamar location that shares a parking lot with Loro. They’re totally different genre’s of food but given Uncle Nicky’s proximity to Loro, the standards were already high.
We each ordered a frozen Aperol spritz and they were delicious! The complimentary snack bar included a bunch of small bites like marcona almonds, marinated mozzarella, marinated olives, an amazing chickpea salad, an out of this world pasta salad and more. Of course we didn’t stop there though, Kiana ordered a kale salad with a citrusy dressing, sundried tomatoes, and shredded parmesan. For a salad so simple, it was perfect. Probably one of my favorite kale salads I have ever had. On the opposite end of the spectrum I ordered a porchetta sandwich that was super delicious although it lacked some of the crunchy goodness that I thought was one of the main features of porchetta, but it was still a fantastic, yuuuuge sandwich that I couldn’t even finish in one sitting.
We’ll 100% be back to Uncle Nicky’s for more of well… everything? Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Uncle Nicky’s South Lamar
Most fun we had this week… We’ve been wanting to try The Long Goodbye since they’ve been open (featured as a new business back when they first opened) and I was excited to host a yoga class there!
Their outdoor setting provided a peaceful backdrop right off Manor Street, the weather was perfect for an outdoor yoga class with a nice breeze. There is available street parking and a decent size lot in the back, which made arriving quick and easy.
Inside, the lounge created a perfect chill vibe where I enjoyed a tasty and refreshing mocktail post-yoga. I’m looking forward to going back for their Saturday Markets and more yoga classes, as well as spending time with friends exploring their extensive cocktail menu.
The Long Goodbye is a relaxing social setting with great food and drinks and plenty of space inside and out. Go check it out on a normal night and keep an eye out for special events like this because they seem to happen pretty often!

New Business that we want to try… PSA: Harry Potter A Forbidden Forest Experience is coming to Austin!!! AHHHH
As a lifelong Harry Potter fan and someone who has seen these exhibits on social media I am sooooo excited that it is coming to Austin!

I love the funky lines and the blend of modern and old school design on this house. It caught my eye because of how different it is to most other listings. It’s designed by a company called Kiligray Homes here in Austin who dubs their style as “New Homes - Old Style” which I think perfectly describes the feel of their designs that draw clear inspiration from homes built in the 1930s-1950s. In a city of more and more white box homes, these interesting designs are so welcome and I hope to see more and more of them popping up as time goes on.
