This one has been a struggle. The internet went down at our new place last night and is still out as of this morning so I am writing this to you from Stouthaus Coffee down here in South Austin.
All I want to say is that if you’re committed to something, you’ll always find a way to make it work.
Sometimes “making it work” is as simple as just getting up and going somewhere else. Other times, the thing between you and “making it work” is an information gap.
Close that information gap and a world of new possibilities opens up.

Weekend Forecast: Austin is serving up another beautiful weekend this weekend with lows in the 70's and highs in the upper 90s. It’s going to be sunny and a great weekend to get outside and get yourself moving whether that’s running, dancing, or attending any of the events below.
Kiana is hosting a rooftop yoga flow at the stunning Thompson Hotel on Sunday morning! It’s linked below, but here… I’ll make it even easier for you to sign up.
Best thing we ate this week… For the uninitiated, this place is an Austin classic. East Side King has been around since 2009, having started as a food truck behind Liberty bar and grown into one of the most ubiquitous names in the Austin food scene.
Slanging unique dishes like beet fries w/ kewpie mayo (if you haven’t tried these yet… go… today!), a chicken karaage dish with mint, thai basil, onions, and their sweet chili sauce, and their crispy pork belly bao bun, everything here is a hit.
My favorite thing to order is the bento box which gives you all of the aforementioned items above. We really love this place, and highly recommend trying it if you’ve never been, or revisiting if you have. There a few locations around town, but the one we frequent the most is the South Lamar Location.
East Side King
Most fun we had this week… Spoiler Alert: It’s more food.
BUUUTTTT it’s so fun! We went to check out this Mochi Donut place over on the east side called OMG Squee that we found on Instagram and wow what a place. It’s located over off of Springdale and it’s so much fun.
You walk in and it’s very colorful, but mostly pink, with a wall lined with Maneki-Neko, representing good luck and good fortune. At OMG Squee they serve an assortment of awesome asian desserts and Boba, but we were there for the Mochi Donuts. We got a half dozen of them. Our flavors were Mexican Vanilla, Blueberry, Raspberry and Chocolate, Smores, and Lemon Butter.
I can’t even begin to explain the texture. It was like biting into a chewy cloud. The flavors were vibrant but not artificial, and we took most of them home to warm them up in the oven as directed. These were an awesome treat and I highly recommend it for someone looking for some unique sweets that you can’t find everywhere.
OMG Squee
New Business that we want to try… Manny’s is a sandwich shop slanging elevated versions of everyones favorite sandwiches like the B.L.T., the Cubano, French Dips, and even chicken salad sammies. It opened up back in April in downtown Austin and every time I drive by, it catches my eye with it’s neon sign, gold arches, and jungle of plants. It gets better though... through a backdoor in Manny’s you’ll find the entrance to a speakeasy called Powder Room. Supposedly it’s a “no phones allowed bar” where you’re encouraged to socialize, not sit around on your devices.
It’s all a creation of Lobos Hospitality, the same group behind Toasty Badger, which we featured in a pretty early edition of the newsletter.
The cocktails look craft, the space looks class, and we can’t wait to check it out.
