Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National All or Nothing Day… a day about going all in on your goals… 😤 💪🏻

What are your goals? Are you ALL IN on them? Or just partially in?

What could you be doing more of? What should you be doing less of?

Why do you want to achieve these goals? What is the path to achieving these goals?

These are all very important questions to ask yourself. Pay close attention to the first answer that comes to mind for each one… analyze why it was first.

Anywayyyyy let’s jump into it but first here’s a silly meme…

Weekend Forecast: Some interesting things happening this weekend! Some of the standouts for me are the SHREK-themed rave and the Supercar Veteran Appreciation event linked below. There is still rain on the forecast through the weekend so might be a good weekend to skew towards inside events.

Side note: Does anyone else think its crazy how it has not really been THAT hot this summer compared to all of the summers in recent memory??? Like yes, it is still hot because we are in Texas after all, but I mean compared to the summers we have been dealing with this is nothing!

Best thing we ate this week… We love Indian food, and we are fortunate enough to live in a city that has some pretty good options. One of my absolute favorite Indian food spots in town is Tarka though. When it comes to hitting that sweet spot on flavor vs price, Tarka knocks it out of the park. Always leaves you thinking… “we paid how much for that meal???” in the best way possible. There are 3 locations for convenient access no matter what part of town you’re in, and they are slanging all of the Indian classics: biryani, korma, pakoras, tikka masala, mango lassi, you name it.

We have been going here for years, and most recently I got the hot tikka masala with chicken while Kiana got the medium chicken korma, of course, no trip to Tarka is complete for me without an order of Garlic Naan. This place has been around in Austin for quite some time, and they deserve all of the love.

Most fun we had this week… We’re making it a point to keep highlighting comedy clubs in town (there will be documentaries made about comedy during this time in Austin) and along that journey, we found Black Rabbit ATX. It’s a BYOB comedy club in a basement, and it’s right in the thick of downtown at the intersection of 5th and Brazos.

It was one of those shows where you never really know what comedians are going to perform and there were quite a few new comics that I hadn’t seen before, but I must say everyone killed. On top of the new faces, one of my favorites, a Kill Tony Golden Ticket winner named Ahren Belisle came out and absolutely rocked the room. If you haven’t seen or heard of Ahren he’s a special dude, he uses his phone to deliver all of his lines because he cannot speak due to cerebral palsy and it’s incredibly inspiring to see his act.

The lineup was hilarious from top to bottom with a whole assortment of different personalities, and it was nice to kick back and drink a bottle of wine with friends as we enjoyed the show. We’ll be adding Black Rabbit ATX to our circuit of comedy clubs and look forward to many more laughs there.

Ahren Belisle

New Business that we want to try… Ever since I saw this colorful little establishment pop up over on East 7th I have been wanting to go give it a try. Prana Cafe is pretty hard to miss with their colorful lotus flower logo as you are driving down 7th headed east on the right side. It’s a juice shop and cafe that serves juices, coffees, smoothies, and some healthy bites like toast and paninis using organic ingredients. It seems to be a place that is all good vibes and they seek to offer a sense of community with offerings like free patio yoga classes.
