I donāt have a deep intro for you all this week, I just hope you are all having a fantastic summer and relishing every moment of it.
Every year single year since I was a child in this city when summer is over (does it ever really end?) I look back with such fondness of the memories I created.
So I just want to encourage you to create memories this summer, to do epic things that will allow you to tell epic stories around the dinner table and to folks you cross paths with for the rest of your life.

Weekend Forecast: Itās looking a little cloudy this weekend with highs in the low 90s, but who are we kidding we are in Austin, Texas in the middle of the summer there are plenty of fun things happening!
I donāt care what youāre into, there has to be something for you this weekend. Sunset paddle boarding on Lake Travis, Ellen DeGeneres live at the Moody Theater, East Austin Hotelās annual summer pool party, and soooo much more!

Best thing we ate this weekā¦ So this one is a little out of the way but I feel like itās close enough to Austin for a feature. We went to Mud Bugs last weekend down in Buda for some Cajun food and it has to be one of my favorite Cajun spots in the area. Itās still rustic food that draws heavy inspiration from South Louisiana, although a little more elevated than your typical Cajun joint.
Their menu is amazing, but Iāll keep the focus on our order. They have a featured dish every day called the ādaily dozenā and only a dozen people can order the daily dozen before itās sold out.
When we went the daily dozen was a dry-aged, 44 Farms New York Strip, served with crispy mashed potato balls, and caramelized carrots. Itās usually enough for 2, so we decided to split that with a wedge salad that came fully decked out, nice and chilled.
We had a few cocktails with dinner as well, The Scotty B (a twist on a mezcal marg) and the Coping Mechanism (Gin, elderflower, rosemary, lime) and they were the perfect compliment to a hefty dinner.
Everything here is delicious, and would say itās worth the 25-30 minute drive to Buda to check out. Itās also surrounded by a few bars that are always lively too so you can get out of town and make a night of it!
Mud Bugs
Most fun we had this weekā¦ I am making it a point to go to more of our new business features, so we went to check out Chalmers Austin last night.
We had been waiting for this place to open for a while, and over the past few weeks on Instagram we have been inundated with all of the ATX influencers going there and posting about the Frozen Mexican Martini and the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and tbh when we got there I was sort of worried that I was expecting too much. Spoiler Alert: I wasnāt.
You walk into the front walkway at the corner of Chalmers and Cesar Chavez and are greeted by a glaring red and white neon sign that says āYEE-HAWS AND SWEET NOTHINGSā, vibey music, and friendly door staff.
Once inside, I donāt know what they are using to make this place smell so good but it smells amazing in there, like palo santo but less smokey. I think it's undoubtedly the best-smelling bar in Austinā¦. Not a very high bar, but I think itās worth mentioning. Anyway, we ordered from a somewhat confusing system (only confusing because we never really got an order confirmation, so we werenāt sure if our food was put in until we got the text that it was ready).
When we picked up the food at the window I already knew we were in for a treat. The garlic butter wings looked and smelled unreal. The steak fingers (yes like DQ with gravy and everything) were a blast of nostalgia. The bacon-wrapped shrimp poppers were an explosion of savory deliciousness. The smashed cucumber salad rescued us from the pits of savory despair. And the Frozen Mexican Martiniās washed it all down perfectly.
I have a feeling that I will be frequenting Chalmers Austin quite often. It has immediately catapulted itself into one of my favorite joints in Austin.

New Business that we want to tryā¦ Iām loving this new trend I am seeing in Austin of bars with pools. Itās HOT here so I think this shouldāve happened a long time ago, but Iāll take it.
We featured Downright Austin Hotel where Swim Club Austin is based out of a while back, but this wasnāt even on our radar at the time. Honestlyā¦ this place looks like such a vibe. I donāt think we need to say much here, if itās even half as cool as it looks to be itās going to be amazing! Check out the photos and the website and tell us you donāt think this looks like one of the coolest new spots in townā¦ we will go soon and report back.
