Well you still have some time!

I don’t care what it is, but create something you love, something that makes you feel accomplished.

Make it a habit to create something weekly and when you look back on your year you will have created around 50 new things! That’s huge!

Anyways let’s jump on into it, but first - a meme!

Best thing we ate this week…  El Alma is my go to right now because they have one of my favorite dishes ever and I can’t get enough. Their Pato tacos consist of roasted duck, almonds, pepitas, and escabeche onions and they are sooo tender and full of flavor. The other things we have tried there recently are the flautas de barbecoa, and the jalapeno crab y queso dip… the barbacoa flautas are really good but my God, that crab jalapeno queso dip is unbelievable.

As far as drinks go, they have an expansive cocktail list, but I keep ordering the Chilanga which is a frozen margarita with orange, Valentina, and a tajin rim and it hits the spot.

We have been going to the new south location on Westgate that took over the old Hyde Park Grill (mixed feelings about that - they had THE BEST fries and still do at the north location if you haven’t been) but I am already finding myself at El Alma more than I did at Hyde Park. They also have the original location right across the street from Auditorium shores and Palmer Event Center on Barton Springs. Whichever one you choose to check out, I highly recommend giving it a go if you’re into slightly elevated Mexican fare.

New Business that we want to try… Austin’s East Side just keeps exploding. Two of the most highly anticipated bars are opening up this weekend, last week we featured Cabana Club (also opening today), but also opening up today is Chalmers ATX. Chalmers is going for the classic Texas ice house feel and may just be the biggest bar in East Austin yet.

Brought to you by the teams behind Armadillo Den, Juniper, and Dainty Dillo, expectations are high. Co-owner Brett Berry described it as “West Texas and Marfa meets Luckenbach” which sounds awesome. Beer, Cocktails, N/A beverages, an on-site restaurant, and two food trucks mean this place will be set up for you to spend hours there hanging with friends or watching sports.

We have loved everything this crew has created so far and don’t expect Chalmers to be any different. It opens up TODAY so get out there this weekend and give it a go!
