Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National Space Day! šš
Do you ever stare into space, start thinking about its ever-expanding nature, and then fall into a deep hole of existential contemplation about how all of this came to be?
Yeah me too.
Our minds are quite powerful and itās way too easy to get sucked into thinking patterns that pull us out of the present. Every single minute there are so many things vying for our attention, advertisements, problems we must solve, bills we must pay, and responsibilities of all shapes and sizes that we are obligated to.
This weekend I just want to encourage you all to be present. Take a second to savor that food, feel the rain on your skin, bounce to the music, and laugh extra hard at that joke. š
Donāt wake up one day and realize you have been living on autopilot. The more present we are, the more interesting and engaging our lives are.

Weekend Forecast: We might have some stray thunderstorms throughout the weekend but there are plenty of things to do rain or shine! Comedy shows, dance parties, Star Wars Day festivities, and Cinco De Mayo!

Best thing we ate this weekā¦ One of my favorite places for a margarita in town is a chicken spot. Sounds weird right? Until you find out that Iām talking about Fresas.
Fresas offers up a modern take on the classic chicken al carbon, but they donāt stop there. They have so many great options from tacos, to nachos, various grilled and roasted veggie dishes, and some of my favorite margaritas in the city, with varieties like the frozen prickly pear margarita, or the cucumber jalapeno margarita, and everything in between.
We went there for dinner last night and each ordered a quarter chicken plate with the Yucatan spice, an order of the roasted beets (one of my favorite beet dishes ever, so smoky and delicious) the chicken flautas, and I got a prickly pear margarita with a tajin rim to wash it all down.
I love the ambiance at Fresas, they have wonderful old live oak trees sprawling over the property making it one of my favorite patio-dining experiences in Austin.

Most fun we had this weekā¦ Admittedly it was a pretty slow week for us. We still had Bad Bunny and Eeyores Birthday which were both an absolute blast and yes I know I already mentioned both in last weekās editionā¦but I am basically out of the country for most of the rest of the month starting next Friday, so we are taking it easy for a sec.
Bad Bunny was my first time at Moody Center and I was blown away by how smooth everything went. We had parking in the Manor garage which was the only part that was kind of a pain to get to. It was so close to the entrance that it was worth the hassle though.
I donāt speak much Spanish so admittedly I had no idea what Bad Bunny was saying between songs, but we had a blast. The energy was insane, he opened up Monaco with a live orchestra, and the pyrotechnics were so intense that you could feel the heat from every blast. I look forward to many more shows at the Moody Center. Below are some photos!
P.S. Kokoās Bavarian (rumored to be reopening but for now available at Moody Center events) had a stand there so I did get to eat a delicious pretzel on National Pretzel Day! š I highly recommend their pretzel, and I didnāt get a photo but their Belgian fries were the best french fries that I have had in my entire life. I donāt know how they did it.

New Business that we want to tryā¦ Yuki Handroll has been getting some serious love from all sorts of people on the internet, from the likes of local food influencers up to Joe Rogan himself.
Opened up by a chef who was at the world-famous Nobu for 10 years, this place looks phenomenal. The fish is being sourced with the utmost regard for quality, and the environment seeks to rival that of just about any other Sushi spot in town. It must be a hit too, because this place opened rather recently and they have announced plans for a second location already. Weāll make it to Yuki Handroll soon (maybe for my birthday next week!) and update you accordingly! š£š„
