Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National Garlic Day! š§ (Did you know garlic is also known as the Stinking Rose? Yeah, neither did I.)
I donāt know about you but the weather has been nice lately and I have caught myself kicking it, relaxing, and falling back into my comfort zone.
I guess there are seasons for that, but for me right now canāt be one of them.
All of our biggest strides and growth happens when we step outside of the bubble of comfort, pushing our limits a little bit. Whether itās getting in the gym, doing yoga consistently, talking to strangers, learning new skills, facing our fears, etc.
Maybe this isnāt you and youāre in a mode of chilling and enjoying the fruits of your labor, maybe youāre in the zone and have been for a while, either is perfectly fine as long as the outcome aligns with your desires.
For me though, going into summer Iām committing to pushing my limits more frequently again. šš»āāļøšš»āāļøšµš»āāļøš
Now let's jump into what's going on in Austin! But first a memeā¦
haha tbh, there are plenty of other options but we choose these a lotā¦
Weekend Forecast: 60% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, with cloudy weather and a little cold front coming in to bring the highs from 80 down to 65 by Sunday. āļø
There is some seriously top-tier comedy happening around the city due to the Moontower Comedy Festival.
We also have Reggae Fest, Earth Day, and more! š
Best thing we ate this weekā¦ Some of my favorite nights out in Austin were 5ish years ago at the 6th Street location of the classic Austin bar The Jackalope.
I always forget about this place, but was at a friendās place over on Riverside and had never checked out the Riverside location of the Jackalope. I was hungry, and the thing I remembered the most about it was how awesome the wings were.
We walked in and having only been to the Jackalope on 6th, I was genuinely impressed. This place was well-kept and well-decorated, and even though their website is down, theyāre very much up and running.
Jackalope is one of those places that pulls no punches, so before they fry their wings, they smoke them. (smoked and fried wings > > >)
We ordered the Cajun garlic parmesan wings, a smash burger, an order of waffle fries, and a frozen margarita to wash it all down.
The wings were even better than I remembered, and the burger was pretty tasty too, although Iād probably suggest just ordering more wings because they are seriously delicious.
If you find yourself craving some food and a nice drink late at night, hit up one of The Jackalope locations and get that smoked wing fix!

Most fun we had this weekā¦ 96 years. For 96 years people have been coming to Zilker Park to launch and fly their kites all day long for Austin Kite Fest. This festival has been happening since the Roaring Twenties. Unreal. šŖ
Every year we look forward to this and this year was a good one. The weather was a bit gloomy earlier in the day but it cleared up as the afternoon went on and got pretty toasty out there.
It was great weather for flying kites. The wind was consistent. There were thousands of kites against the backdrop of the rapidly evolving Austin Skyline. Every year this event is a spectacle.
If you havenāt made it out to Kite Fest before, make it a point to get out there next year! You wonāt regret it.

New Business that we want to tryā¦ A few weeks ago we posted about Murrayās Tavern.
It turns out they have been cooking more than what you see on the menu at Murrayās. The crew behind Nickel City, Uncle Nickyās, Lavolta Pizza, and more is bringing you a new bar in the back of Murrays called Half Moon.
It seems to have a Hawaiian/ Luau thing going on and they have whole pig roasts on the first Sunday of every month! Half Moon doesnāt have an Instagram or website set up yet so youāll have to use the Murrays Tavern Instagram to keep up for now. We are going to the next pig roast in May for sure!

Now this place isnāt necessarily in one of my favorite parts of town (Iām a South Austin kid born and raised) but it is too cool not to feature. This 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath ranch is all about blending comfort and usability with those tropical Tulum-meets-Austin vibes that are big right now. It sits on a roomy lot, giving you loads of space to dream big. Imagine kicking back in your backyard, hanging in your cowboy pool surrounded by vibrant fruit trees. Or maybe starting the day out in the Sauna?!
Thereās even a tricked-out old school bus on the property, ready to be whatever you needāan extra hangout spot or a funky guest room, an air bnb, your call.
This isnāt just a house; itās your chance to get one of the most unique places we have seen yet for this price.
Check out all of the details here.
