Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National Submarine Day! šš¶
Create, create, create.
In the entire realm of life as we know it in the universe, we have a unique ability to create things.
But so few of us are tapping into that power.
I know every single one of you reading this have the superpower of creation. Some things may be created quickly, some things may take months or even years to bring to fruition. But think about what you can doā¦
Almost every single thing that you interact with daily was created in the mind of a human and then engineered (or manifested) into fruition.
The device you are reading this on took decades of technological development to create, yet all of that time spent was entirely worth it.
You donāt have to make the next iPhone to be a creator though.
You can paint. You can create a song or a YouTube video in a matter of hours. You can take your phone and create stunning content and share it with the entire world in a matter of minutes.
You can create things physically with wood or other materials (ice sculptures? š§)
You can create a software application with no coding experience using a no-code dev platform.
There are endless mediums of creation. If youāve found yours, go hard on it this weekend!
If you havenāt found yours yet, take a few hours to try a new medium this weekend.
Now let's jump into what's up in Austin! But first a memeā¦
Weekend Forecast: We have a fantastic weekend ahead in Austin, Texas.
MotoGP, Madonna, Jeff Ross, Roast Battle, The NINETY-SIXTH YEAR (96?!?!) of the Austin Kite Fest, and so much more.
The weather is looking pristine with highs of 83 and lows in the 50s.
Weekends like these are why we live here! šŖ©š¤
Most fun we had this weekā¦ (I know these segments are out of order this week but bare with me thereās a reason!)
So the weather was just too good not to find a swimming pool yesterday. Being a Thursday, our usual Barton Springs was closed so we had to venture across the Lake to Deep Eddy. At this point, itās basically a tradition that if we go to Deep Eddy, weāre ALSO going to Pool Burger.
If you donāt know about Pool Burger yet, more about that below. You can thank me later. š
But letās talk about Deep Eddy. Deep Eddy is awesome. Itās a Spring-fed pool similar to Barton Springs, but itās not a natural bottom. It feels more like swimming in a regular pool except itās spring-fedā¦ so itās on the cooler side of course.
It has a chilling side, a lap pool area, and a kidās section. It costs Austin residents $5 to get in for the day and is well worth it.
We soaked up the sun until we were getting too hot, then took a dip, and repeated the cycle 3-4 times before drying off and heading up to Pool Burger.
Best thing we ate this weekā¦ Deep Eddy + Pool Burger might just become your new summer ritual once you try it. šš»āāļøš¹
Itās a match made in heaven.
You spend the afternoon at the pool, and then once youāre done you walk over to your little tropical tiki oasis right off of Lake Austin Blvd. š“
The burgers are made with Texas Wagyu and they are fantastic. The drinks are almost all tiki-style drinks with multiple rum-forward options. My favorite is by far the Hurricane, a frozen passionfruit and rum drink that is small but oh-so mighty. Iāve certainly gone too far with these a time or two.
Another thing that we love at Pool Burger is the Beets + Avocado Salad, which is exactly what it sounds likeā¦
Next time you want to get outside and catch some rays, take a dip, and grab a meal all in one place, give this combo a try. Itās a true Austin experience and is something you can add to your list of things to take your out-of-town friends to do!
