Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National First Contact Day! š½
What is that you may be asking? Itās a holiday to commemorate a fictional date in the future when an alien species visits Earth and makes contact with us Earthlings for the first time.
I donāt exactly know what I want you to DO with this information, but I wanted you to have it in your possession.

This quote has stuck with me since I saw it earlier this week.
Let it remind you to live your life as if it is the only one you have. Donāt rush through it. Even in the seemingly boring moments, find something to savor.

Thereās so much happening this weekend! From Hasan Minaj to the CMT awards, to Bob Dylan, and a once-in-a-lifetime eclipse, curating this newsletter is giving major excitement for these next few days!
Best thing we ate this weekā¦ We mentioned Hattie Bās as a new business we wanted to try before they even opened.
Well, today (Thursday) we tried it.
Now I love spicy food. Iāll happily order the hottest wing sauce and usually order the second to spiciest, or spiciest heat level at other Nashville Chicken joints in town. So naturally I went with the damn hot.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you.
It was hotter than your seat belt buckle at 3:00 PM in the middle of July in Austin. That shi had me sweating, crying, and blowing my noseā¦ and I loved every second of it! š„µ
*The damn hot is not something you should order if you are not a spice enthusiast. š¶ļø
Kiana got grilled tenders with the hot level, one level below damn hot. Donāt let one level of difference fool you though, the delta between the two is VAST.
You can see the difference in color between the wings in the top right (damn hot) and the grilled tenders in the bottom left (hot). The sides were good, the pimento mac and cheese was different and I enjoyed it quite a bit, it was also completely necessary to ground me back to earth.
If you love spicy fried chicken, definitely go give Hattie Bās a shot. As hot as it is, itās also damn delicious. Let us know how you like it!

Most fun we had this weekā¦ So we posted an article in edition #10 of this newsletter about the Pease Park Troll and I thought they meant that it was coming next year or maybe in the summer but no, they moved with the swiftness!
The troll is already at home in its little nook in the park and we went to see it this past week. Based off of my memory this one is a bit larger than the one in Breckenridge. The attention to detail is amazing, and itās worth going to check out.
If you havenāt been to Pease Park before, itās one of Austinās gems and is home to Eeyores Birthday happening later this month. (IYKYK, if not, then go so you can know)
The park also plays host to some other amazing events throughout the year.
I recommend going on a weekday while kiddos are in school so you can enjoy the troll when itās not a playground!

New Business that we want to tryā¦ I need to make it a point to spend more time down in the South Manchaca area. Itās really been blossoming lately. Thereās a new combo of bars that recently opened up in addition to all of the other offerings down there.
Drifters Social ATX and Pickle Pub ATX came together to form a new social hub for the South Austin/Manchaca crowd. Itās two bars on one property with live music, drinks, a daytime coffee shop, multiple food trucks, and as the name impliesā¦ pickleball! Weāre going to get down there soon and weāll let you know how it is!
