Happy Friday ATX!

So it seems like we all survived the Arctic blast eh? 🥶 

Let me tell you guys… having spent a few years living out in Colorado before returning home to Austin, I will never not find it hilarious, the way that my fellow Texans react whenever they hear that they are going to have freezing temperatures for a few days.

Like I get it... we all have some PTSD from the ice storms the past couple of years, but boy is it entertaining to watch people prep like we are going into WW3.

Anyways, let’s jump on into it!

Best thing I ate this week… Now this might not be anything new to many of you, but tonight's dinner was on another level at Hopdoddy. The Continental Club, the Diablo (holy hell was this thing spicy…🥵) and the truffle fries with shhhh... a side of Queso… 👀 

What you may not know about Hopdoddy, is how they are disrupting the food industry. They’re showing that you can operate a chain of restaurants - 47 as of Sept 2023 - using regeneratively farmed meat and no seed oils, at scale. Lemme tell you, regenerative farming is not just talk; it's a game-changer. We won’t get into the nitty-gritty here, but basically, it creates healthy soil with sturdy root systems that actually sequester more carbon than is released through raising the cattle.

Back in October, we had the pleasure of going to the Common Ground movie premier at the Paramount, where Hopdoddy was a sponsor, and present on the panel. It was eye-opening to see how passionate they are about this mission. This place has solidified its place in my heart as one of my favorite restaurants in Austin.

New Business that we want to try… I honestly have no excuse not to have tried this place yet because it is right in my neighborhood. The menu looks heavenly for me with the Smoked Japanese Scallops, Duck Spring Rolls, and the Zoe Tong Rohan Duck dish that looks out of this world. If you haven’t figured it out by the name of that last dish, the restaurant I am referring to is called Zoe Tong and it is located right next to Zilker Park on Barton Springs Rd. The cuisine is inspired by the buzz of China’s alleyways and eateries, and they have put together a team with folks from some of Austin’s best establishments so I have high expectations for this one.

How about a low-key compound in East Austin? This home doesn’t look like much at first glance, but it is quite the setup. 3 bedrooms plus an office, a sauna, a hot tub, a courtyard, a rooftop sky deck, and plenty of privacy. This pad is surrounded by some of the hottest restaurants in town like La Barbecue, Juan in a Million, Intero, and Kemuri Tatsuya to name a few. Positioned perfectly for easy access to the East side nightlife and food scene but not quite in the middle of the craziness. I have been vibing with the East side big time lately and this listing had me daydreaming.
